So I often go to the Detroit Zoo with my son. It is a good time for us to just get out and have some fun. I naturally take my camera with me every time, EVERY TIME! You never know when you are going to see something wonderful, or capture a great shot.
So on this trip my son Dillon, was quite taked with the Butterfly house. So I took some photos for him to look back on later in life. I take the approach of preserving his youth in photos. I also get a little time behind my camera, which seems to be hard to do when I want to, work and life get in the way as always.
So any way back to the butterflys....
The Blue Morpho above is such an incredible specimin. I always hope to capture on with wings open, but it has eluded me thus far. One day it will happen.
My son and I go to the Zoo at least twice a month, and I always come back with some good photos. Dillon has gotten to the point now that if he wants me to take a photo he will put hi hands to his face like he has a camera and the point at what he wants me to photograph. Let me tell you it was so cool the first time he did that, I got all choked up inside. Here is the photo he wanted me to take.
The focus was off but I was surprised by how it looked that I had to keep it. It has a dreamy quality to it. I took the shot real quick, and did not look at the shot after I took it. Dillon was pulling me to see another bird.
This little guy was just out for a stroll, so I took the shot for my son as he directed. Dillon is developing quite the eye i think.
I saw this bird and thought wow! Cool, I think a tighter crop would work better so I am going to try that later to see if it works. Here are a couple more for you all to see.
I have to say that I am really enjoying taking Dillon to the many places that we go to, The Detroit Zoo, Henry Ford/ Greenfield Village, and Cranbrook. Not only does it inspire my Son, it also lets me take some nice photos and we both get to spend some quality time together.
Hopefully I will be passing on a hobby, and a skill in photography, for him to carry on with his children some day. I believe the memories of Dillon's and mine will have more impact later in life when we look back on all of lifes joys that we share together through photography.
Now get out there and take some photo's with your children if you have any, and enjoy a day out. Children will make you see your photos in a new way.
