In need of a flash bracket.

So I am in need of an off a camera flash bracket. So monday after Dillon and I went to the zoo. I decided to take a trip to Wooward Camera. Its an OK shop. They do have a good selection of cameras and a so so collection of everthing else. Ok I'm really disappointed to tell the truth, in my opinion they really suck. If you need a photo frame or some kind of PS digital camera they have it. Filters what have you but as for anything "serious" well you might be out of luck.

All of the really good Cmaera shops have closed, its a shame too. Century Camera was at one time my favorite shop. They had all the good stuff, I bought my G2 there and they had all the Leica stuff you could shake a stick at too. Tripods galore too, lenses, flashes, you name it they had it somewhere. Now they are gone and that was the last great camera shop to clse its doors.

So I was looking for that off camera flash bracket. I found the Stroboframe Flip camera rotating bracket. What a piece of junk, not very stable at all, I have to say I am very disappointed it the construction and sturdiness of the product. Add to the fact that it will not work if you have a battery grip on the camera, even though the product description says that it will.

I knew I should have just purchased the Really Right Stuff bracket. I will have to do that now I have used RRS products in the past. They may be a little more expensive, but their stuff works no question and the most important their products last. I have some of the RRS quick change clamps from 10 years ago and they wookr like the day I bought them. If you are looking to purchase any type of camera mounting gear don't buy anything But RRS products. You won't be disappointed.

@Jonesy: yes it does suck. I often have to make purchases for the "quality" stuff online. Believe it or not, some of the pawn shops around here have nicer selections of great equipment. I one got a fantastic light setup at a pawn shop, when most camera shops had crap for studio lights.

@Chris: You are quite right about that. Camera shops for me used to be dark dusty fun places to shop, with accessories that were quality not crap.

That sucks! I have the same problem here, only one camera store around. If I need anything that's worth a shit or at a reasonable price, it has to be found online.
